Single Vineyard Shiraz

Heathcote Estate Single Vineyard Shiraz blends fruit from five individual blocks of the winery's vineyard along Drummonds Lane at Heathcote. The soils are archetypal Heathcote: deep red clay over bedrock.

Each vineyard component is handled separately in the winery. Most of the grapes are gently destemmed for fermentation in a mix of open and closed fermenters, with some whole bunch inclusion in select batches.

The wine is pressed and transferred to French oak barrels, mostly hogsheads with some puncheons and large vats. Here it undergoes malolactic fermentation and 12 months of maturation, racked twice.

Deep dark red, Heathcote Estate Single Vineyard Shiraz has abundant red and black fruit flavours, texture and tight, savoury tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
