Reserve Chardonnay
Wine
Harewood Estate Reserve Chardonnay is a cool climate wine grown on the rolling slopes of the estate vineyard, sited in gravelly soils overlooking the Southern Ocean.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed, resulting in pristine juice. It is barrel fermented in a mix of new and second use French oak. Several yeast strains, including wild yeast, are used to add layers of complexity.
A small proportion of the barrels are lees stirred weekly and are allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation to introduce savoury and textural intensity. The wine matures for 11 months before it is bottled with minimal fining.
Brilliant straw, Harewood Estate Reserve Chardonnay balances delicate fruit flavours, texture and length, finishing with citrus acidity and spicy oak. Cellaring potential is five years.
