Eileen Hardy Chardonnay
Wine
Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay is a blend from Australia's finest cool climate regions: the Yarra Valley, Tumbarumba and Tasmania. Several vineyards were planted for Hardys at select sites.
The wine takes the name of Thomas Mayfield Hardy's wife, Eileen, the family matriarch and first lady of Australian wine.
From each vintage, only the best fruit is selected for the Eileen Hardy label. Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, it is wild fermented in French oak barrels. Half the barrels undergo malolactic fermentation.
After typically nine months ageing on lees in new and seasoned French oak, the wine is bottled for release.
Straw green, Hardys Eileen Hardy Chardonnay interlaces ripe citrus and stone fruit flavours with flinty mineral acidity. Rich, powerful and elegant. Cellaring potential is seven years.
