Seven Acre Shiraz
Wine
Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz draws from the winery's Home Block at Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley which, as the name suggests, is seven acres in size.
The site has the harshest terrain of the estate, with a soil profile of hard clay mingled with bluestone slate. However, it produces fruit of remarkable depth.
The grapes are handpicked and destemmed without crushing. They ferment in shallow open fermenters with several pump overs. The juice is then basket pressed, with the free run and pressings kept separate.
The wine is racked to barrels for malolactic fermentation. After maturing for 27 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads, it is blended and bottled without fining or filtration.
Deep red brown, Greenock Creek Seven Acre Shiraz is powerful and full bodied with dark fruit flavours and earthy tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
