Wine
Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a dry grown vineyard of century old vines along Roennfeldt Road at Marananga in the Barossa Valley.
It is the winery's smallest vineyard, known for producing formidably structured wines with intense Cabernet character.
The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed without being crushed. They ferment in open concrete fermenters for up to 10 days with pump overs, the temperature kept at 20-22°C
The wine is drained and pressed in a wooden basket press. Keeping the free run and pressings separate, it is racked to new French oak hogsheads to age for 36 months. One week before bottling, the barrels are blended.
The wine matures in bottle for a further 24 months. At the time of release, it has aged in barrel and bottle for over five years.
Dark cherry red, Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Cabernet Sauvignon has brooding fruit flavours, dark spices and firm, minerally tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
