Wine
Garagiste Merricks Chardonnay is an outstanding Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay. The fruit is sourced from the red ironstone soils of Merricks Grove Vineyard.
To highlight the influence of the site on the final taste, the winery uses the same winemaking techniques for its Merricks Chardonnay as it does for its sibling Tuerong Chardonnay. You will taste the difference when you try them!
Hand harvested, hand sorted and whole bunch pressed. Natural fermentation takes place on solids in 500 litre French oak puncheons. There is partial malolactic fermentation.
The wine is matured on lees for 12 months before bottling, without fining or filtration.
Pale straw, Garagiste Merricks Chardonnay has satiny texture, fine natural acidity, mineral freshness and seamless length. Cellaring potential is seven years.
