Block 9 Shiraz
Wine
Forest Hill Vineyard Block 9 Shiraz draws from the estate's cool climate vineyard in Mount Barker, Great Southern. Block 9's 1985 plantings of Shiraz are all hand harvested.
Most of the fruit is destemmed into small open fermenters. A separate small vessel is filled entirely with whole bunch fruit. The ferments are each pumped over or plunged by hand twice a day.
The wine is pressed to oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, allowing a soft integration of grape and oak tannins. After 10 months of maturation, the wine is blended and bottled.
Vibrant purple, Forest Hill Vineyard Block 9 Shiraz is packed with spicy dark fruit flavours, silky tannins and intense persistence. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
