S.R.S. Wallcliffe Chardonnay
Wine
Flametree S.R.S. Wallcliffe Chardonnay is part of the Sub Regional Series, a collection of wines each sourced from a single Margaret River locale in which the variety excels.
The Chardonnay is from Wallcliffe, south of the Margaret River township. The old, low yielding vineyard is planted to cuttings from Leeuwin Estate Block 20, which supplies the famous Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay.
The fruit is handpicked and refrigerated overnight, then whole bunch pressed. High turbidity juice is placed into French oak puncheons, 40% new, for wild yeast fermentation and maturation.
In vintages where further texture and complexity are required, the lees are stirred and the wine is inoculated for partial malolactic fermentation.
Straw with green hues, Flametree S.R.S Wallcliffe Chardonnay has lifted fruit flavours and delicate savoury complexity. Cellaring potential is five years.
