Chardonnay
Wine
Flametree Chardonnay blends fruit from across Margaret River. The lion's share is from vineyards planted with cuttings from Leeuwin Estate Block 20, which produces the famous Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay.
The chosen vineyards are typically sited on well drained gravel loams. Some parcels of fruit are handpicked while others are machine harvested.
Free run juice undergoes wild fermentation in new and seasoned French oak barrels. A small percentage of the blend is whole berry fermented to provide savoury complexity. A small portion also sees malolactic fermentation.
The wine spends nine months in barrel with lees stirring every 4-6 weeks. It is then blended, fined and bottled.
Straw with green edges, Flametree Chardonnay has the tight structure of modern Margaret River Chardonnay, finishing dry and savoury. Cellaring potential is five years.
