Black Label Syrah
Wine
Fighting Gully Road Black Label Syrah, from Beechworth in Victoria, is grown in a cooler climate than most Australian Shiraz. It is inspired by the wines of the Rhône Valley in France.
Syrah (Shiraz) grapes are co-fermented in open vessels with a tiny percentage of Viognier. About one third of the fruit is included as whole bunches. The wine then matures in thick staved French oak demi-muids (600 litre barrels).
Deep dark purple, Fighting Gully Road Black Label Syrah is a classic cool climate Shiraz with spicy dark fruit flavours and fine tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
