Sangiovese
Wine
Fighting Gully Road Sangiovese is inspired by the style of Italian Chianti. A small portion of Colorina, an old Tuscan variety traditionally used to produce Chianti, is incorporated into the blend.
A portion of the grapes are destemmed to retain whole berries while the balance is crushed. The wine ferments with indigenous yeasts in a mixture of stainless steel and oak vats, remaining on skins for one month.
Maturation occurs in Italian coopered French oak barriques, puncheons and larger format oak barrels, a combination of new and seasoned.
Garnet in colour, Fighting Gully Road Sangiovese is medium bodied, savoury and textural with a line of fine grained tannins and acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
