The Ironstone Pressings
Wine
d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings blends Grenache and Shiraz with a small amount of Mourvèdre. McLaren Vale's vineyards are impregnated with ancient, decomposed laterite granite known as 'ironstone'.
Small batches of grapes are gently crushed and transferred to open fermenters. The batches remain separate until final blending. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through the ferment.
The wine is basket pressed and transferred to new and seasoned French oak to complete fermentation and age on lees for 18 months. There is no racking until final blending and no fining or filtration.
Deep purple, d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings has intense dark fruit flavours, earthy notes and a tangy finish. A GSM with excellent structure and length. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
