Genesis Syrah

Castagna Genesis Syrah is handpicked from the estate's biodynamically farmed vineyard at Beechworth in north-east Victoria, located 500 metres above sea level.

The winemaking intention, simply, is to allow the wine to be an expression of the place where it is grown. Traditional methods prevail.

The Syrah (Shiraz) is co-fermented with a small parcel of Viognier using indigenous yeast and minimal interference. The wine matures for 18-20 months in tight grained French oak barrels, half of which are new.

A dark plum colour, Castagna Genesis Syrah has dark fruit flavours – ripe but not sweet – with firm structure and fine, powdery tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
