Cape Mentelle Shiraz is sourced from the estate Wallcliffe, Trinders and Crossroads Vineyards. It is inspired by the wines of France's northern Rhône Valley.

The handpicked fruit is partially destemmed, berry sorted and cold soaked. Fermentation takes place with wild yeasts and in some years includes a portion of Viognier to add aromatic lift and colour.

After post ferment maceration, the grapes are gently basket pressed. They undergo malolactic fermentation in French and American oak. The wine matures on lees for 16 months before blending.

Deep magenta, Cape Mentelle Shiraz has dark berry flavours, chewy yet silky tannins and a long, savoury finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
