Indigo Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Brokenwood Indigo Vineyard Shiraz is a Selection Massale wine, grown from cuttings of outstanding vines rather than a single vine clone. Selection Massale fosters random genetic input.
The Indigo Vineyard at Beechworth has cuttings from the winery's Graveyard Vineyard in the Hunter Valley, Rayner and Wade Block 2 Vineyards in McLaren Vale and Seville Estate in the Yarra Valley.
The fruit is cold soaked for several days before fermentation with hand plunging. About one third is included as whole bunches. It matures for 12 months in a 2,800 litre French oak vat.
Dark red, Brokenwood Indigo Vineyard Shiraz is medium bodied with sweet fruit flavours, integrated oak and a fine tannin finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
