LE Shiraz
Wine
Bethany Wines LE Shiraz is drawn mainly from an Eden Valley vineyard, blended with fruit from the Schrapel family's Homestead Block along the contours of the Barossa Ranges.
The wine is a tribute to Lawrence and Edna Schrapel, the fourth generation to tend the vineyard at Bethany. They were resolute custodians of the site for over 50 years.
The fruit is picked in the early morning. Most is crushed, though a proportion remains as whole berries to maximize fruit expression. Gentle fermentation occurs on skins over 8-10 days with twice daily pump overs.
The wine is then pressed to a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels where it matures for 18 months.
Dark purple, Bethany Wines LE Shiraz balances rich fruit flavours with fine tannins. Savoury spice adds complexity and length. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
