Manilla Pinot Noir
Wine
William Downie Manilla Pinot Noir is a single site expression of Gippsland Pinot Noir. It is drawn from the Manilla Vineyard, planted in 1983 to the MV6 clone.
Though the site is less than five kilometres north of William Downie's Millstream Vineyard, it produces a wine remarkably different in style. It faces slightly to the south and has red volcanic soils, resulting in vines with very lush, green canopies.
William Downie keeps the winemaking very simple. The grapes are fermented naturally, with no punch downs, pump overs or temperature control.
Deep crimson, William Downie Manilla Pinot Noir has a sweeter fruit profile and a soft, velvety texture. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
