Reserve Chardonnay
Wine
Heggies Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay draws from Heggies Block I, where nearby vegetation, high elevation and cool breezes create the ideal microclimate for producing Chardonnay.
Three clones of Chardonnay – Clone 76, 95 and 96 – are handpicked separately. The fruit is gently whole bunch pressed for wild yeast fermentation in French oak barrels.
Post ferment, a proportion of the wine is transferred to ceramic eggs to mature while the balance remains in oak. Throughout 11 months of ageing on yeast lees, the wine sees regular bâtonnage (stirring) to build texture.
Each individual parcel is then assessed to determine the final blend. After bottling, the wine matures for at least another 12 months before release.
Pale gold, Heggies Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay has fresh peach and zesty citrus flavours, a fine creamy texture and lingering mineral finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
