Wine

Yalumba 50 Year Old Rare Aged Tawny is a rare relic, preserved amongst Yalumba's ancient collection of museum wines.

The blend includes Shiraz, Grenache, Dolcetto, Mourvèdre and Muscadelle, briefly fermented on skins then fortified with a fine brandy spirit distilled through Yalumba's own still.

The original ferments occurred in the 1940s and 1950s. Ageing over many decades in French and American oak, they lose 2-3% to evaporation each year (the 'angels share') and leave behind an extremely concentrated wine.

Parcels are blended with medium sweet Apera style wines to counteract the immense drying characters of this style. The wine has an average age of 50 years.

Deep golden tawny with an olive rim, Yalumba 50 Year Old Rare Aged Tawny has a tide of rich fruitcake and caramel flavours with intense spicy aged complexity.

Silky, luscious, persistent. Having completed its ageing in barrel, it is ready to drink.
