Ironstone Barrels The Old China Hand Syrah
Wine
Sidewood Ironstone Barrels The Old China Hand Syrah is a single site, single clone wine from estate plantings along Ironstone Road at Echunga in the Adelaide Hills.
It was first made for the 90th birthday of Des Inglis, father of Sidewood co-founder Owen Inglis. Des spent the vast majority of his life in Hong Kong, where he became a successful businessman.
The Syrah (Shiraz) fruit is handpicked and fermented with partial whole bunch inclusion. After extended maceration on skins, the wine matures for 12 months in new and seasoned French oak.
Just a handful of barrels are carefully selected for the final blend. Only limited quantities are released.
Deep purple, Sidewood Ironstone Barrels The Old China Hand Syrah has bright berry flavours, coiled tannins and a long, clean finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
