Wine

Stanton & Killeen Classic Rutherglen Topaque is made with Muscadelle fruit picked late in the season when its flavours are fully developed and its sugar levels are high.

The juice begins fermentation on skins, then a high strength spirit is added. This stops the ferment, retaining the natural sugars and leading to a more intense final wine.

The wine starts its ageing in large, very old barrels. Select parcels are chosen for the Classic blend. Some of the wine is aged in small old barrels while some goes through a Solera.

As part of the Solera system, younger parcels of wine are carefully blended with older parcels. The final wine has an average age of 12 years.

Coppery gold, Stanton & Killeen Classic Rutherglen Topaque is full flavoured with complex layers of caramel and dried fruit with a long finish.

Having completed its ageing in barrel, the wine is best within a year of release.
