Lina Lool
Wine
Quealy Lina Lool is an intriguing field blend of four white varieties: Fruilano, Riesling, Malvasia Istriana and Moscato Giallo. All are estate grown at Balnarring.
The wine's name is derived from the aromatic compound synthesized in berries and stored in their skins. It is found in Riesling, Malvasia Istriana and Moscato Giallo.
These three aromatic varieties are co-fermented on skins with the Fruilano, ensuring their aromas develop as they should. The process takes place in terracotta amphorae with open tops, the ingress of oxygen creating further aroma and texture.
Once the skins sink to the bottom, the wine is racked away. The skins are removed from the amphora then the wine is returned, where it matures and continues to clarify.
In some vintages, the wine is held in barrel for a further 12 months prior to bottling.
A deep golden hue, Quealy Lina Lool is a generous, spicy wine with an almost nutty texture and refreshing acidity. Cellaring potential is five years.
