Hard Hill Road Writer's Block Riesling
Wine
ATR Wines Hard Hill Road Writer's Block Riesling is sourced from the highest, most exposed ridge of the winery's vineyard in Great Western, where cool southerly winds prevail.
The grapes, typically low yields of small bunches, are harvested a little later than is typical for Riesling. The extra time in the sun gives them layers of subtle flavour.
The fruit is pressed as gently as possible, then the juice is settled for three days. Fermentation occurs in seasoned French barrels for several months until a tiny level of residual sweetness is achieved.
Post ferment, the wine matures on lees for a further six months to impart a gentle creamy texture.
Pale straw, ATR Wines Hard Hill Road Writer's Block Riesling has delicate fruit flavours its natural acidity softened by the oak. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
