Joanna Shiraz
Wine
Patrick of Coonawarra Joanna Shiraz, named after the old settlement of Joanna in Wrattonbully, is grown on a single vineyard planted by founder Pat Tocaciu in 1998.
The fruit is grown on south facing slopes in Wrattonbully's cool climate. These conditions allow the grapes to ripen slowly with greater concentration of flavour.
The wine is produced using traditional techniques such as slow fermentation, extended skin contact and gentle maceration. It matures for 28 months in new American oak and second use French oak barrels.
The wine is only produced if the harvest is deemed excellent. Once bottled, the wine spends at least five years developing in the cellar prior to release.
Dark purple, Patrick of Coonawarra Joanna Shiraz has dark berry flavours with hints of spice, smooth tannins and a dusting of oak. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
