The Marker Pinot Noir
Wine
Rosenthal The Marker Pinot Noir pays homage to the quaint French tradition of using rose bushes to mark the end of vine rows. The roses, highly susceptible to powdery mildew, would act as an early indicator of disease in the vineyard.
The fruit is destemmed and crushed into open fermenters for cold soaking. After warming naturally, the juice is inoculated with yeast. The ferments are plunged twice daily and kept at 25°C to prevent the over extraction of tannins.
The wine is then transferred to French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and nine months of maturation. It is fined before bottling.
Deep crimson purple, Rosenthal The Marker Pinot Noir has cherry and dark berry flavours with well integrated fine tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
