Camp Hill Pinot Noir
Wine
William Downie Camp Hill Pinot Noir is a single site expression of Gippsland Pinot Noir, grown at what is considered the highest point between the Strzelecki and Great Dividing Ranges.
Camp Hill Vineyard faces north with an almost 360 degree view of Baw Baw Shire. Most of the vines, planted in 1998, are the MV6 clone with several rows of 115. The red volcanic soils have a higher rock content, producing a more finely boned wine.
William Downie keeps the winemaking very simple. The grapes are fermented naturally, with no punch downs, pump overs or temperature control.
Crimson red, William Downie Camp Hill Pinot Noir has vibrant red fruit flavours with bright acidity and a tight tannin structure. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
