Upper Tintara Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Vineyard Shiraz – affectionately known as 'Little Ox' – is sourced from the winery's millennium Shiraz plantings at Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale.
Blewitt Springs is more elevated than other areas of McLaren Vale and has a cooler climate. Combined with the younger vines, the result is a contemporary McLaren Vale Shiraz.
The fruit is destemmed, crushed into Potter fermenters with heading down boards, and inoculated with a chosen yeast strain. Once a day, the fermenting juice is drained to another tank then pumped back over the skins.
The wine is then drained off, the skins are pressed, and the blended parcels are sent to French oak for 18 months of maturation. It is bottled with minimal filtration.
Deep inky red, Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Vineyard Shiraz has rich dark fruits, abundant drying tannins and a savoury finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
