The Wild Fig Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre
Wine
Bleasdale The Wild Fig Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre is drawn from small parcels of Langhorne Creek vines, originally grown for fortified winemaking. It is Shiraz dominant with Grenache and just a splash of Mourvèdre.
The Shiraz and Grenache are destemmed together to open fermenters for pre-ferment maceration. The juice is pumped over up to four times daily. After around 10 days on skins, it is drained, pressed and settled for 24 hours.
The wine is then racked to stainless steel tanks and seasoned French oak puncheons to age for six months. Other carefully selected parcels, including the Mourvèdre, are blended to the wine before bottling.
Deep purple, Bleasdale The Wild Fig Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre received the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy for its 2018 vintage – exceptional at its price point.
It is a medium bodied wine with rich fruit flavours, savoury, earthy characters and a fine chalky finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
