Syrah
Wine
Swinney Vineyards Syrah draws from selected parcels of vines situated on ironstone gravel hilltops above the Frankland River. All the grapes are picked and sorted by hand.
Most of the Syrah (Shiraz) fruit is crushed into small open fermenters with a small percentage of Grenache and Mourvèdre. A whole bunch component is added to build structure and texture.
Fermentation is with wild yeasts. After two weeks on skins, the wine is pressed directly to large format fine grained French oak to age for around 12 months. Bottling occurs without fining and only minimal filtration.
Deep purple, Swinney Vineyards Syrah has a richly fragrant fruit profile with dusty tannins, fine cedary oak and long length. Cellaring potential is seven years.
