Wine
Yangarra Estate Shiraz – given the estate vineyard's elevation and cooling night breezes – is a cooler climate expression of the typical McLaren Vale style.
There are 12 individual Shiraz blocks. Each block exhibits different aspects and subtle variations of the ironstone soils that overlie ancient sands.
The handpicked fruit is mechanically sorted. The grapes, mostly whole berries with some whole bunches, cold soak until the onset of wild fermentation, followed by a regime of plunging and rack and returns.
The resulting wine matures on lees in one quarter new and seasoned French oak for 12 months. It is bottled with no fining, just filtration.
Inky garnet, Yangarra Estate Shiraz has concentrated dark fruit flavours, silky texture and fine grained tannins. A bargain at the price. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
