W.J.J. Reserve Pinot Noir
Wine
Pike & Joyce W.J.J. Reserve Pinot Noir, released only in exceptional vintages and only in small quantities, is named in honour of winery co-founder William James Joyce.
The fruit is grown on the estate vineyard at Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, sited at 590 metres altitude. It is handpicked and transported to the winery in the Clare Valley.
Fermentation takes place with wild yeasts in small open fermenters. A portion of the fruit is included as whole bunches. The wine matures in French oak barrels for 8-12 months. Only the best parcels are selected to comprise the final blend.
Cherry red, Pike & Joyce W.J.J. Reserve Pinot Noir has a dense dark fruit core with bright acidity, fine tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
