Single Vineyard Long Walk Pinot Noir
Wine
Helen's Hill Single Vineyard Long Walk Pinot Noir is sourced primarily from the largest block of Pinot Noir on the estate property at Coldstream in the Yarra Valley.
Each of the 120 old vine rows is 520 metres long. When the time comes to put boots in the vineyard, a seriously long walk is on the cards.
Fruit from four different Pinot Noir clones is destemmed but not crushed for whole berry fermentation. It ferments in open top fermenters with 8-10 days on skins before it is pressed, settled and racked.
The wine is held on fine lees in one third new French oak barrels for 11 months. Though it is not racked during maturation, the wine is racked for bottling.
Ruby red, Helen's Hill Single Vineyard Long Walk Pinot Noir is medium bodied with dark fruits and Yarra Valley earthiness. Cellaring potential is seven years.
