Burton McMahon George's Vineyard Chardonnay
Wine
Gundog Estate Burton McMahon George's Vineyard Chardonnay is a collaboration between winemakers Matt Burton and Dylan McMahon. Their aim is to capture a sense of place in a bottle.
George's Vineyard is located at East Seville in the Yarra Valley. The Clone I10V1 Chardonnay vines grow 180 metres above sea level in grey soils.
The only difference between this wine and its sibling, Burton McMahon D'Aloisio's Vineyard Chardonnay, is the vineyard. The winemaking is identical to show the unique influence of each site on the final taste.
The fruit is handpicked and whole bunch pressed. After settling in tank overnight, the juice is racked directly to barrel with high solids for natural fermentation. The wine is then sulphured to prohibit malolactic fermentation.
It matures for 10 months in French oak barrels, a small proportion new, before it is prepared for bottling.
Bright yellow, Gundog Estate Burton McMahon George's Vineyard Chardonnay is a crisp, focused wine with stone fruit flavours and dry acidity. Cellaring potential is five years.
