Aglianico
Wine
Fighting Gully Road Aglianico is inspired by wines from the slopes of Mount Vulture at Basilicata in southern Italy, where the Aglianico variety originates.
The fruit grows in the cool Alpine Valleys of north-east Victoria. It is destemmed, crushed and fermented in small stainless steel vats. The temperature is carefully controlled to retain the wine's aromas and avoid extracting excessive tannins.
Once pressed, the wine ages in seasoned oak puncheons and demi-muids (larger barrels) for 24 months. Only a handful of bottles are produced each year.
Deep red purple, Fighting Gully Road Aglianico is full bodied with firm but fine grained tannins and good acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
