Stevens Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Tyrrell's Stevens Vineyard Shiraz is handpicked from a mature hillside vineyard in Pokolbin, planted in the 1960s on unusually coloured purple ochre clay loams.
It is one of two iconic Stevens family vineyards. In 1993, Bruce Tyrrell struck a deal with the Stevens family to use these sites. It was a deal sealed with a handshake.
The fruit, destemmed but not crushed, is open fermented in stainless steel vats. As it ferments, the juice sees hand plunging, pump overs, and rack and returns. Maturation is in newer French oak casks over 15 months.
Rich purple, Tyrrell's Stevens Vineyard Shiraz is a modern Hunter Valley Shiraz, medium to full bodied with hints of spice and fresh acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
