HVD Vineyard Semillon
Wine
Tyrrell's HVD Vineyard Semillon is sourced wholly from the Sign Post Block of the HVD (Hunter Valley Distillery) Vineyard, planted in 1908 between two creek beds. The light, sandy, well drained soils are ideal for Semillon.
Historically, Tyrrell's blended fruit from various vineyards to make their wines. However, in 1983 HVD Semillon was created as their first formally recognized single vineyard wine.
The grapes are lightly crushed to undergo a relatively cool ferment in stainless steel. The wine spends minimal time on lees and is bottled early to retain freshness. No oak is used at any stage of the winemaking.
Pale yellow, Tyrrell's HVD Vineyard Semillon has lifted floral aromas with citrus flavours, a soft, clean acid structure and long length. Cellaring potential is three years.
