Tussie Mussie Pinot Gris
Wine
Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Gris draws from the Tussie Mussie Vineyard at Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula. Red, iron rich soils and cool breezes from Bass Strait produce expressive fruit.
The vineyard was once a flower farm. Its name comes from the Victorian term for small bouquets that convey subtle messages through the language of flowers.
The grapes are gently whole bunch pressed. The following day, the juice is racked for fermentation with cultured yeast. Most of the juice is fermented in stainless steel, while a small portion is reserved for new French oak.
All parcels are stirred on lees until blending. At bottling, the wine retains a small amount of residual sugar to balance its alcohol and acidity.
Golden green, Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Gris has generous stone fruit and honey flavours, creamy texture and a mineral backbone. Cellaring potential is three years.
