Musk Creek Pinot Gris
Wine
Quealy Musk Creek Pinot Gris is sourced from the Musk Creek Vineyard atop Main Ridge overlooking Westernport Bay. Its clay soils are moistened by springs that affect the whole slope.
The result is late ripening fruit: tiny, waxy, pink berries – like pink pearls – high in sugar and acid. Coastal breezes and a strict pruning regime protect them from Botrytis.
Whole bunches of fruit undergo a long, slow press cycle over 12 hours. The juice is then racked to begin fermentation. After three weeks, the juice is re-inoculated with a sparkling wine yeast to push the ferments to completion.
The lees are stirred throughout the ferment ensuring all the sugar is consumed by the yeast.
Golden green, Quealy Musk Creek Pinot Gris has berry and earth characters with honey notes and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
