Old Vine Shiraz
Wine
Balgownie Estate Bendigo Old Vine Shiraz is handpicked from the best 12 rows of the winery's original vineyard, planted in 1969. It is only produced when the vintage conditions are impeccable.
The fruit is destemmed into open vats, where it ferments with daily hand plunging. Post ferment, the wine macerates on skins for a further week to extract flavour and fine tannins.
The wine is then pressed and racked to a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 24 months of maturation. It is racked again prior to bottling. Over the next three years it is aged in bottle prior to release.
Inky garnet, Balgownie Estate Old Vine Shiraz combines richness with poise. Its concentrated fruit flavours, oak and tannins are in perfect balance. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
