Wine
Balgownie Estate Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the original Balgownie wines. Its fruit is sourced from the estate vineyard at Maiden Gully outside Bendigo, first planted in 1969.
The fruit is handpicked over several passes of the vineyard, ensuring each parcel has reached optimum ripeness. It is destemmed, crushed and pumped straight to open vats.
Fermentation on skins lasts for at least 14 days, with minimal pump overs and plunging to maintain the quality of the fruit. The wine is aged in one third new French oak barrels for 18 months, then bottled without fining.
Deep inky red, Balgownie Estate Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon is medium to full bodied with rich dark fruit flavours and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
