Hard Hill Road Petite Sirah
Wine
ATR Wines Hard Hill Road Petite Sirah is drawn from low yielding vines of Hard Hill Road Vineyard, nestled along the ridgeline that overlooks the Grampians ranges in Victoria.
Petite Sirah, or Durif, is known for its black, thick skinned grapes and concentrated wines. It is typically associated with warm areas, yet A. T. Richardson is one of the few who dares to grow the variety in cooler climes.
The fruit is handpicked and fermented in small batches. Low intervention techniques are used, such as some whole bunch inclusion, hand plunging and extended maceration.
After around three weeks on skins, the wine is gently pressed for 18 months of maturation in American oak puncheons.
Deep purple, ATR Wines Hard Hill Road Petite Sirah is warm and generous with dark berry flavours, elegant tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
