The Kirche
Wine
Charles Melton The Kirche is a blend of 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly grown on the loam and red clay soils of the Kirche Vineyard at Krondorf in the Barossa Valley.
A portion of The Kirche is a co-ferment of the Shiraz and Cabernet; the rest is fermented as single varietals which are then blended prior to settling. In most years, maturation takes place in French oak for 18 months.
Deep dark ruby, Charles Melton The Kirche, typical of the Barossa, is a plush, round wine with a firm grip of tannins and crisp acidity. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
