Wine
Yalumba Paradox Shiraz is sourced from the northern Barossa Valley which has some of the Barossa's oldest terrain. It is known for its soils formed from 200 million year old bedrock.
The paradox is, unlike many of the high octane Shiraz wines from this region, Paradox Shiraz emphasizes softness rather than power.
Small parcels of grapes are fermented with wild yeast in open top vats. The ferments naturally become warm, allowing the fruit flavours and textures to express themselves.
Maturation and natural malolactic fermentation take place in larger format French oak puncheons. New oak is eschewed for mostly seasoned barrels to preserve the wine's gentle style.
Inky crimson, Yalumba Paradox Shiraz is lush and layered with dark fruit flavours, savoury character and powdery, velvet-like tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
