Wine

Bangor Abel Tasman Pinot Noir is sourced from the winery's best performing Pinot Noir vines.

"It behoves us to thank God Almighty with grateful hearts" were the words recorded by Abel Tasman on sailing into a tranquil harbour off Bangor’s coastline on 1 December 1642.

After an arduous voyage across the unforgiving expanse of the Indian Ocean, he was the first European to set foot upon Tasmania’s shores.

The fruit is grown on well drained clay loams over ancient rock. Combined with a gentle northerly aspect and Tasmania's cool climate, the conditions are ideal for Pinot Noir.

The grapes are cool soaked and fermented naturally with a mix of destemmed and whole bunch fruit. Malolactic fermentation follows. The wine is then aged on lees for 10 months in French oak.

Deep crimson, Bangor Abel Tasman Pinot Noir is medium to full bodied with complex red and black fruit flavours and delicate oak spice. Cellaring potential is seven years.
