DJL Chardonnay
Wine
Xanadu DJL Chardonnay is made with mostly estate grown fruit from the Lagan, Boodjidup and Stevens Road Vineyards. DJL refers to Dr John Lagan who first planted the vineyards at Xanadu in 1977.
The grapes are whole bunch pressed then barrel fermented with wild yeasts in new and seasoned French oak. All the individual batches that make up the blend are lees stirred during a nine month oak maturation. There is no malolactic fermentation.
Pale straw, Xanadu DJL Chardonnay is taut yet opulent, its fruit and bright acidity uniting to focus the wine in a crisp, lingering finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
