Wine
TarraWarra Estate MDB Chardonnay is the flagship TarraWarra Chardonnay. It is named after Marc and Daniel Besen, the founder of the winery and his son.
Using natural yeasts, fermentation lasts for 10 days with maturation in 25% new French oak. There is no malolactic fermentation.
For all their Chardonnays, TarraWarra do not rack or move their wines for 11 months once the primary ferment is complete. Only then do they decide which selections will make up the Reserve and Estate wines – or, potentially, an MDB release.
In rare vintages when a parcel stands out as a true reflection of its vineyard site, it is kept separate for bottling under the MDB label.
Bright straw yellow, TarraWarra Estate MDB Chardonnay has striking fruit flavours, purity and precision. Made only in outstanding years. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
