Wine
Torbreck RunRig is a multi-vineyard wine that takes its name from the timeworn Celtic 'Run Rig' land system – rather than being individual holdings farms were managed communally, each contributing to the whole.
RunRig is sourced from individual parcels of fruit from old dry grown vineyards across the Barossa Valley. It is a Shiraz dominant wine blended with a small amount of Viognier.
Parcels from six different vineyards are destemmed into wooden and concrete open fermenters, spending 6-7 days on skins. After basket pressing, the wine undergoes natural malolactic fermentation in half new French oak barriques.
Ageing for 30 months on fine lees follows, enhancing the texture. The Shiraz is then blended to tank and, after bench trials, typically 2% of Viognier is added.
Deep purple crimson, Torbreck RunRig has impeccable balance, its dense tannins interweaving with silky, red cherry fruit flavours. The finish is firm and persistent. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
