Indigene Shiraz Mataro
Wine
Spinifex Indigene Shiraz Mataro is winemaker Peter Schell's take on classic Barossa Shiraz. It is sourced from Ebenezer, Moppa and High Eden vineyards.
The vineyards are high altitude with low yielding, dry grown vines. The average vine age is over 70 years. The blend is typically 60% Shiraz and 40% Mataro (Mourvèdre).
The grapes wild ferment in open stainless steel and large format oak with partial whole bunch immersion. Pressed to French oak, the wine ages for 18 months. It is racked and blended before bottling.
Deep garnet, Spinifex Indigene Shiraz Mataro has dark plum flavours, firm sandy tannins and a long, enduring finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
