Alicante Bouchet
Wine
Rockford Alicante Bouchet is the exception to the rule at Rockford. Though the winery is dedicated to traditional Barossa varieties, this is one wine that breaks the mould.
The Alicante Bouchet variety is genetically linked to Grenache. Like Grenache, it thrives in the Barossa Valley's warm Mediterranean climate.
Alicante Bouchet is a rare grape with red flesh. Because of this, there is no need for the skins and juice to be together to extract colour and flavour before pressing. The wine is made in a Rosé style.
Bright red, Rockford Alicante Bouchet is light and aromatic with fresh, spicy red fruit flavours and a crisp finish. Best enjoyed young and chilled.
