Cooinda Vale Chardonnay
Wine
Pooley Cooinda Vale Chardonnay draws from the Cooinda Vale Vineyard at Campania in southern Tasmania, whose fruit was once destined for the Australian icon Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay.
Minimal intervention winemaking practices allow the influence of the site to shine through in the wine. The grapes are handpicked and whole bunch pressed.
After cold settling, the juice is racked to a mix of new and seasoned oak barrels for wild yeast fermentation. It then matures for nine months with minimal stirring. There is no malolactic fermentation.
Pale straw, Pooley Cooinda Vale Chardonnay balances pristine citrus notes, racy acidity, creamy texture, and a mineral finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
